Know what to notice
Recognise possible signs of distress without diagnosing, and decide what the moment actually requires.
Respond without overstepping
Use PACE and CALM to offer practical support while staying within clear professional boundaries.
Make a safe handover
Know when to escalate, involve further help and prepare a simple response plan for your event.
For event organisers: event managers, planners, producers and freelancers responsible for delivery.
For venues and suppliers: teams whose decisions shape participant and staff experience.
For associations and organisations: people strengthening event practice across a team.
What you will be able to do
By the end of the course, you will be able to: • recognise possible signs of distress without trying to diagnose; • use PACE and CALM in pressured event situations; • avoid common responses that can make matters worse; • make a safe handover and prepare an event response plan; and • apply the learning through realistic scenarios and five guided expert resources. This is practical, non-clinical professional development. It does not qualify you to diagnose, counsel or treat mental-health conditions, and it does not replace accredited mental-health first-aid training, clinical care or emergency services.
